blech
when i got back to center city after work, i had some errands to run that required a bit of walking. about two miles maybe. it was overcast but felt pretty nice, not windy. i couldn't figure out why i was sweating so much, though. turns out it's in the sixties, and there i was wearing my heavy down winter coat. yikes. when i got home i had to lay down for a bit.
going home for the Holiday. so i looked at my weather program. it is currently 64 degrees here in Philadelphia. and 12 in Chicago, where i'm flying tomorrow morning. and then it's 11 degrees with a chance of snow in Kansas City, to which i'm taking a train tomorrow afternoon. and then it's 19 and icy in West Plains, where my parents live. wonderful.

Wal-Mart Employee Trampled to Death by Customers
come on, people. this is a Mary Shelley moment. we should be frightened of this type of moment, or the days when people get shot over an xbox 360. who is this bargain-hunting monster we have created? i do love free enterprise, but this level of deranged consumerism is frightening. i hope the people of Valley Stream, New York are ashamed. Black Friday indeed.

bad cat
we still sit Ollie from time to time. Archie has always hated him, though. it started with just jumping at him and hissing when he was a kitten, then stalking him, and now he is directly attacking the poor dog face to face. Archie has always been a jerk of a cat, but i've never seen him be so mean. i had to swat him and lock him in my room so that the poor dog could come out of the kitchen and relax with us in the living room.
